A closer look
A four-generation Sicilian family bakery — established 1914, in Temecula since 2018 — crafting made-to-order wedding cakes, dessert bars, cannoli, and a staffed gelato cart.
Gruttadauria's 1914 Bakery carries a story few bakeries can match: founded in 1914 by Salvatore Gruttadauria, who brought his recipes from Caltanissetta, Sicily to Rochester, New York — and still run by the family four generations later. The bakery moved west in stages, opening in Temecula in June 2018, and today specializes in weddings and special events.
This is a made-to-order operation rather than a walk-in shop: a full kitchen with a private tasting room, curbside pick-up, and prearranged appointments. Wedding cakes are custom-designed in an appointment with a wedding professional, choosing among nine named flavors — Royal White, Chateau Champagne, and The Italian Cream among them — with each tier customizable and cakes starting at $7.50 per person with base design. Tastings run as a one-hour in-person appointment or a curbside to-go sampler.
Beyond the cake, the family builds dessert bars from their cakes and Sicilian pastry lineup — cannoli made to the founder's own recipe, fruit tarts, cream puffs, mini cheesecakes, and chocolate-covered bride-and-groom strawberries — plus a staffed, vintage-themed gelato cart with more than twenty flavors. Gluten-free tart shells are available on request. They mostly serve the Temecula and Fallbrook region with availability for Orange County and San Diego, book up to thirteen months out, and recommend reserving six to eight months before the wedding.
